Canada invited 2,000 Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence on September 14

EXPRESS ENTRY DRAW #204: September 14, 2021

Canada invited 2,000 Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence in first CEC-specific draw of September.

The invitations were issued to Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores of at least 462.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) applied the tie-breaking rule and the time-stamp used was September 11, 2021 at 10:55:43 UTC. This means the CEC candidates who had a CRS score of 462 or more, who had submitted their Express Entry profile before this time and date, received an invitation in this draw.

The Express Entry system is Canada’s primary source of skilled foreign workers. It manages the profiles of candidates under three Federal High Skilled economic class immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class.

Each candidate is awarded a core score under Express Entry’s Comprehensive Ranking System based on factors that include age, education, skilled work experience and proficiency in English or French. This score determines their rank in the Express Entry pool.

A set number of highest-ranked candidates are then invited to apply for Canadian permanent residency through regular draws from the pool.

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is an immigration category for foreign workers who have completed at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada within the last three years and who wish to become permanent residents.

In order to be eligible to apply under CEC, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements. They must:

  • Have at least 12 months of full-time (or an equivalent in part-time) skilled, professional or technical work experience one or more occupations classified as skill type 0, A or B under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) in Canada within the last three years of making application;
  • Meet the required language proficiency level equivalent to Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of 7 if their job falls under NOC 0 or A or 5 if their job falls under NOC B; and
  • Plan on living and working outside the province of Quebec.

 IRCC has now invited a total of 108,414 PNP and CEC candidates to apply foe Canada PR through the Express Entry system so far in 2021.
