Canada invited 3,371 CEC candidates in latest Express Entry draw held on May 15

EXPRESS ENTRY DRAW (CEC) #148: May 15, 2020

In its latest Express Entry draw for immigration to Canada on May 15, 2020; Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued a total of 3,371 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for Canadian permanent residence.

The invitation round, which was restricted exclusively to candidates in the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), had a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score cut-off threshold of 447 points, making it the lowest CRS score cut-off drawn for CEC candidates since January, 2020.

The minimum CRS drawn in this draw is also decrease of five points than the cut-off score in the last CEC Express Entry draw conducted on May 1 and had a minimum score of 452.

IRCCapplied a tie-break in this draw. The time stamp used was December 23, 2019, at 10:01:06 UTC. This means all CEC candidates with a CRS score of and above 447, who entered their profile in the Express Entry pool before this date and time, received an ITA for Canadian permanent residence in this invitation round.

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is one of three Federal High Skilled immigration programs managed by the Express Entry system. This immigration class is open to foreign nationals with a minimum one year of work experience in Canada, among other criteria.

It’s been a while now that IRCC is targeting only CEC and Provincial Nominee candidates due to the fact that they are most likely to be already in Canada because of the current travel restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Considering Canada’s higher admission targets under its 2020-2022 Immigration Levels Plan, it can be assumed that IRCC will hold more frequent and larger draws in the coming weeks and months.
