Canada invited a total of5956 Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residency in a major draw held on May 31, 2021.
The new draw issued Invitations to apply (ITAs) for Canadian PR to targeted candidates under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
In order to receive an invitation in this draw, CEC candidates were required to have a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) Scoreof at least 380, which is the second-lowest CRS cut-off in 2021.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) applied its tie-break rule in this draw and the time stamp used was May 28, 2021 at 14:45:22 UTC. This means only those CEC candidates with minimumCRS of 380 who had submitted their Express Entry profile before this date and time, received an invite in this draw.
Express Entry is an online system used by IRCC to manage and process applications for skilled workers who want to become permanent residents of Canada through three of Canada’s federal economic immigration programs for skilled workers:
- The Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC)
- The Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
- The Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC)
It is a competitive immigration system, ranking all eligible candidates against one another based on their age, education, language proficiency, work experience & other factors and then inviting the high-ranking candidates to apply for Canadian permanent residence through regular draws.
The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is a popular immigration category of Express Entry System, which is designed for foreign workers who have at least one year of full-time (or an equivalent in part-time) skilled, professional or technical work experience in Canada within the last three years and who wish to become permanent residents.
Due to the pandemic, Canada has been holding only CEC and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)-specific Express Entry draws as these candidates are most likely to be present in Canada.
Canada has now invited 74, 773 Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residency so far in 2021.
