Ontario PNP invited 703 Express Entry candidates for a provincial nomination in latest tech draw on May 13

Ontario PNP

In its latest tech draw held on May 13, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) invited 703 Express Entry tech candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence.

The invitations or Notifications of Interest (NOIs) went to Express Entry candidates who had work experience in one of the following six tech sector occupations:

  • Computer and information systems managers NOC 0213
  • Computer engineers NOC 2147
  • Database analysts and data administrators NOC 2172
  • Software engineers and designers NOC 2173
  • Computer programmer and interactive media developers NOC 2174
  • Web designers and developers NOC 2175

The invited Candidates had Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores between 421 and 451, which is the lowest CRS requirement since the program’s establishment in July, 2019.

OINP Tech Draws

Conducted through the OINP’s Human Capital Priorities Stream, Tech Draws were created to help Ontario meet the growing labour needs of the province’s tech sector.

These draws allow the province to search the federal Express Entry pool and invite eligible candidates who meet the stream’s eligibility requirements to apply for provincial nomination.

A job offer is not required in order to be eligible for the Human Capital Priorities Stream.

However, candidates need to have a profile in the Express Entry pool and meet the Human Capital Priorities Stream’s eligibility requirements along with having a minimum one year of continuous paid full-time work experience or the equivalent paid part-time work experience in one of six tech-sector occupations.

If the candidates who received invites in the latest OINP Tech Draw obtain the provincial nomination from Ontario, they will be awarded an additional 600 points towards their CRS scores. This will enable them to get prioritized for an invitation to apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence in subsequent federal Express Entry draw.
