The maritime province in eastern Canada, Prince Edward Island (PEI) conducted its largest Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw of 2022 so far on September 15.
A total of 147 candidates received invitations to apply for a provincial nomination for Canada Permanent Residency (PR) in this draw.
Out of the total invites issued, 142 went to candidates under Labour & Express Entry category while 5 candidates were invited under the Business impact – Work Permit Entrepreneur category.
In order to receive an invitation in this draw under the Business impact – Work Permit Entrepreneur category, candidates were required to have a minimum provincial score of 85, which is a reduction of 12 points as compared to the last draw held in August 2022.
Prince Edward Island is Canada’s smallest and greenest province. Cradled on the waves of the Gulf of St. Lawrence, PEI is known for the vivid colors of its gently rolling landscape, surrounded by miles of sandy beaches and red sandstone cliffs.
As an island with a small population, the province is home to vibrant and distinct culture. Inhabitants of PEI are often known as “Islanders”. The warm and welcoming nature of the local culture is well-admired not only in Canada but all around the world.
PEI is one of the most cost-effective locations in North America for software development, specialty chemical production, bio-science research, and development activities.
PEI PNP’s Express Entry Category
PEI’s Express Entry Category is for candidates with a profile in the federal Express Entry system, which runs the pool of applicants for three main economic immigration classes- Federal Skilled Trades Class, Canadian Experience Class, and Federal Skilled Worker Class.
In order to be considered for a provincial nomination, Express Entry candidates first need to submit a separate EOI to the Prince Edward Island PNP.
EOI profiles are given a score based on various factors such as education, work experience, and proficiency in English or French and the highest-ranked candidates are then invited to apply for a provincial nomination through regular draws.
Labour Impact Category
PEI PNP’s Labour Impact Category is not aligned with the Express Entry system and provides foreign nationals with a valid job offer and support from a PEI employer with a pathway to Canadian permanent residence.
Candidates in this category may fall under three possible streams: Skilled Worker (in PEI and outside Canada), Critical Worker, and International Graduate.
Business Impact: Work Permit Stream
The PEI PNP’s Business Impact: Work Permit Stream is for individuals with business ownership or extensive management experience who are interested in owning and operating a business in PEI.
