EXPRESS ENTRY DRAW #182: APRIL 14, 2021
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 266 Express Entry candidates to apply for Canadian Permanent Residency in new Express Entry round of invitations held on April 14.
The draw was restricted to candidates who have previously received a nomination from an Express Entry aligned Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
The invitations to apply (ITAs) were issued to PNP candidates who had a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 753, which is a reduction of 25 points than the previous PNP- only draw.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) applied the tie-breaking rule and the time-stamp used was March 01, 2021 at 15:22:18 UTC. This means the PNP candidates who had a CRS score of 753 or more and had submitted their Express Entry profile before this time and date, received an invitation in this draw.
Express Entry
The Express Entry system is Canada’s primary source of skilled foreign workers. It manages the profiles of candidates under three Federal High Skilled economic class immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class.
Eligible candidates enter the Express Entry pool, where they are issued a CRS score based on their age, education, skilled work experience and proficiency in English or French, among other factors.
A set number of highest-ranked candidates are then invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence through regular draws from the pool.
Express Entry-aligned PNPs
With an aim to attract highly skilled immigrants and deal with labour market needs, many of Canada’s provinces and territories have provincial nominee immigration streams linked to federal Express Entry.
Immigration candidates, who obtain a nomination from an Express Entry-aligned PNP, automatically receive 600 points toward their overall CRS score, eventually enabling him/her receive an ITA quickly.
The total number of invitations issued by IRCC so far this year is 49,390, which is nearly double the number of invitations issued at the same time last year.
