EXPRESS ENTRY DRAW (PNP) #147: May 13, 2020

In its latest Express Entry draw conducted on May 13, 2020, Canada invited 529 immigration candidates to apply for permanent residence.

The draw was restricted to candidates who had received a nomination from a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). This is the reason that the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut off for this draw was 718.

The provincial nomination awarded them an additional 600 points toward their CRS score, which means without the nomination candidate would have had a score of only 118.

Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) used its tie-break rule in this draw and the time stamp used was March 19, 2020 at 12:53:21 UTC. This means that all candidates with a CRS score of above 718, as well as those candidates with scores of 718 who submitted their profile before this time received an Invitation to apply (ITA) in this invitation round.

Express Entry system is Canada’s main source of skilled foreign workers. It manages immigration applications for three Federal High Skilled economic class immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), Federal Skilled Trades (FST), and Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

In order to be considered for these programs, a candidate needs to first submit an Express Entry profile.

All eligible candidates are entered into the Express Entry pool and are ranked against one another based on a CRS score, which assigns each candidate a score out of 1200 points on the basis of factors such as age, education, skilled work experience and proficiency in English or French.

The highest-ranked candidates from the pool received invites to apply for Canadian permanent residence through regular draws.

IRCC has been regularly holding PNP and CEC specific Express Entry rounds since Canada imposed travel restrictions to stop the spread of coronavirus on March 18.

Canada has now invited 34,829 immigration candidates so far this year.
