The minimum CRS score drops again
In latest May 1 Express Entry draw for immigration to Canada, a total of 3,311 immigration candidates issued an Invitation to Apply (ITA) to apply for permanent residence.
The invitation round was restricted exclusively to candidates in the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score cut-off threshold for this draw was 452 points, making it the lowest CRS score cut-off drawn under Express Entry system so far in 2020.
It was also a reduction of three points than the previous CEC specific draw that was conducted on April 16 and had a minimum CRS cut off of 455.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) applied its tie-break rule in this draw and the date and time used was October 10, 2019 at 19:15:28 UTC. This means all Canadian Experience Class candidates with a CRS score of and above 452, who entered their profile in the Express Entry pool before this date and time, received an ITA for Canadian permanent residence in this invitation round.
This draw continues IRCC’s trend of conducting Program-specific invitation rounds. Since travel restrictions were introduced on March 18 to curb the spread of COVID-19, IRCC has held eight program-specific draws that issued invitations to PNP and CEC candidates.
It has been around 2 months since the last all-program draw conducted by IRCC. The last all-program draw was held on March 4, 2020 that invited 3,900 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 471.
The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is one of three Federal High Skilled immigration programs managed by the Express Entry system. This immigration class is open to foreign nationals with a minimum one year of work experience in Canada, among other criteria.
This invitation round brings the total ITAs issued by IRCC so far in 2020 to 34,300.
