Alberta immigration released the details of its fourth Express Entry draw of 2020 held on February 20.

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) invited a total of 150 immigration candidates with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores as low as 300 to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence.

Introduced in 2018, The Alberta Express Entry Stream allows the AINP search the federal Express Entry system for candidates who meet its specific eligibility requirements and invites them to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence.

It also provides a pathway to permanent residence for eligible Express Entry candidates with strong ties to the province or who are working in an occupation that supports the province’s “economic development and diversification priorities,” among other factors.

Candidates do not require having any job offers in the province to be invited to apply for a provincial nomination through this Stream. However, AINP generally gives priority to candidates who:

  • have a job offer and/or work experience in the province;
  • hold a degree from a Canadian post-secondary institution and a valid job offer; or
  • have a parent, child or sibling already living in the province

Alberta Express Entry Stream 2020 Draws

So far this year, the province has issued 651 invites or Notifications of Interest (NOIs) through the Alberta Express Entry Stream.

In 2019, a total of 11,137 Express Entry candidates received invitations to apply for provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence from Alberta.

Express Entry candidates with a nomination from Alberta, receive an additional 600 points toward their CRS score, which effectively increase their chances to get an invitation to apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence in subsequent Express Entry draw.
