British Columbia invited 87 immigration candidates to apply for provincial nomination in latest PNP Tech Pilot draw on June 23

British Columbia

In its latest British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) Tech Pilot draw held June 23, B.C. invited 87 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence.

The invitations went to candidates under the Express Entry BC and Skills immigration categories.

The minimum score requirement in this draw for the Skilled Worker and International Graduate subcategories was 80.

Launched in 2017, the BC PNP pilot offers a fast-track pathway to permanent residence for certain foreign tech workers. The draws have been conducted almost every week in order to minimize the wait for workers and their employers, who both have to meet program eligibility requirements.

In order to apply through the Tech Pilot, immigration candidates need to have a job offer in one of 29 eligible occupations in the province. The job offer must be valid for a minimum of one year with at least 120 days remaining at the time of submitting the application.

To apply under the Skills Immigration or Express Entry BC immigration categories, the eligible candidates need to first create a profile through the BC PNP’s online portal and register under its Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).

These profiles are then evaluated and issued a score based on applicant’s level of education, work experience, English language proficiency and location of employment.

Candidates, whose applications get approved by BCPNP, will automatically receive an additional 600 CRS points toward their comprehensive ranking system (CRS) scores. This effectively guaranties them an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence in subsequent Federal Express Entry Draw.

B.C. has held 6 PNP draws so far in the month of June wherein a total of 729 candidates have received invitations to apply for a provincial nomination.

Invited candidates now have 30 calendar days to submit their complete application for provincial nomination to BC PNP.

Those candidates, whose applications will get approved, can then submit their Canadian permanent residence application with the federal government.
