British Columbia invited 92 foreign tech workers and international students to apply for a provincial nomination

BCPNP Draw

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) invited 92 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian Permanent residency in new Tech Pilot draw that took place on December 15.

Invitations were issued to foreign tech workers and international students through the following four immigration sub-categories of the Express Entry BC (EEBC) and Skills Immigration (SI) streams:

  • SI – Skilled Worker
  • SI – International Graduate
  • EEBC – Skilled Worker
  • EEBC – International Graduate

Candidates selected in this draw across all categories needed a minimum provincial score of 80.

The BC PNP Tech Pilot Program offers a fast-track pathway to permanent residence for certain foreign tech workers who have job offers in one of 29 eligible occupations in British Columbia. The job offer must be valid for a minimum of one year with at least 120 days remaining at the time of submitting the application.

The eligible candidates need to first create a profile through the BC PNP’s online portal and register under its Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). They must choose to apply through the Skills Immigration or Express Entry BC immigration categories.

The BC PNP will then invite candidates who fulfill the minimum score requirements to apply for a provincial nomination through regular weekly draws.

Invited Express Entry BC candidates, whose applications get approved by BCPNP will automatically receive an additional 600 CRS points toward their comprehensive ranking system (CRS) scores. This effectively guaranties them an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence in subsequent Federal Express Entry Draw.

The BCPNP has conducted total 27 tech-Pilot draws so far in 2020. Apart from tech-only draws, the province has also conducted invitation rounds for foreign workers and graduates in non-tech occupations every two weeks.
