EXPRESS ENTRY DRAW #158: August 5, 2020

3,900 candidates received invitations to apply (ITAs) for permanent residence

Canada has held another all-program Express Entry draw on August 5. A total of 3,900 immigration candidates with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score threshold of 476 received invitations to apply (ITAs) for permanent residence in this invitation round.

Candidates from the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) were eligible for this round of invitations.

This was the second all-program Express Entry draw since March as due to coronavirus travel restrictions, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) had temporarily limit draws to PNP and CEC candidates only.

On July 8, Express Entry returned to all-program draws for the first time in more than four months before again resuming program-specific draws on July 22 and July 23, which clearly suggested that IRCC might start to alternate between these two types of draws as its operations slowly return back to normal.

IRCC applied a tie break in this draw and the time stamp used was July 27, at 01:02:47 UTC. That means all Express Entry candidates with a CRS score of at least 476 or above who had submitted their profile before this date & time, received ITAs in this invitation round.

This was the 25th draw of 2020 that brings the total number of ITAs issued this year through Express Entry System to 61,600, a new record for this date.

The Government of Canada aims to process majority of permanent residence applications filed through the Express Entry system within six months of submission.
