The province of Ontario held third Tech Draw of 2020 on July 29, inviting Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination.

A total of 1,288 immigration candidates who had work experience in one of six in-demand occupations received invitations to apply (ITAs) for provincial nomination in this draw.

Invitations or Notifications of Interest (NOIs) went to candidates under the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities stream of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).

The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score requirement for this draw was between 463 and 477.

Invited candidates had at least one year of work experience in one of the following occupations:

  • Computer and information systems managers (NOC 0213)
  • Computer engineers (NOC 2147)
  • Database analysts and data administrators (NOC 2172)
  • Software engineers and designers (NOC 2173)
  • Computer programmer and interactive media developers (NOC 2174)
  • Web designers and developers (NOC 2175)

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) is the Provincial Nominee Program of the Ontario province. The program allows prospective immigrants with the skills and experience targeted by the province to apply and receive provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence.

In order to be eligible to apply under OINP, Express Entry candidates need to meet the Human Capital Priorities Stream’s eligibility requirements along with having a minimum one year of continuous paid full-time or the equivalent paid part-time work experience.

With a provincial nomination, Express Entry candidates can earn 600 additional points toward their CRS scores, which enable them to get prioritized for an invitation for Canadian permanent residence in subsequent Express Entry draw.

Candidates, who received an NOI from Ontario, now have 45 days to submit their application for the provincial nomination to OINP.
