Canada invited another 746 Express Entry candidates to apply for Permanent Residency on December 22, 2021
Canada continues to conduct Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)-specific Express Entry Draws.
In latest Express Entry draw held on December 22, 2021, a total of 746 Express Entry Candidates, who previously received a nomination through an Express-entry aligned PNP, received Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for Permanent Residency.
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score cut-off threshold for this draw was 720. Express Entry candidates, who received a provincial nomination, automatically get 600 additional points toward their overall CRS score. This is the reason that CRS cut-off score for PNP-specific draws is usually high.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) applied the tie-breaking rule and the time-stamp used was November 24, 2021 at 16:56:42 UTC. This means the PNP candidates who had a CRS score of 720 or more and had submitted their Express Entry profile before this time and date, received an ITA in this round of invitations.
Canada Express Entry System
The Express Entry system is Canada’s primary source of skilled foreign workers. It manages the profiles of candidates under three Federal High Skilled economic class immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSW), Federal Skilled Trades Class (FST) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
Eligible candidates enter the Express Entry pool, where they are issued a CRS score based on their age, education, skilled work experience and proficiency in English or French, among other factors. A set number of highest-ranked candidates are then invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence through regular draws from the pool.
As of December 20, 2021, there are a total of 191,765 immigration candidates who have active profiles in the Express Entry pool.
Since the beginning of 2021, Canada has only been conducting PNP and CEC specific Express Entry draws as these candidates are highly likely to be in Canada already.
So far in 2021, IRCC has invited more than 114,432 Express Entry candidates to apply for Canadian PR. Out of total invites issued, 14778 have been rendered to PNP candidates while the remaining 99654 ITAs went to CEC candidates.
