The Canadian province of Prince Edward Island (PEI) issued record-breaking number of invitations in new Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw held September 17.
A total of 345 economic immigration candidates received invitations to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence from Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) in this draw.
Out of the total invitations issued, 313 went to candidates in PEI PNP’s Express Entry and Labour Impact categories.
However, the PEI PNP did not provide a breakdown of how many Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates were invited, nor the minimum EOI score required for each category.
Another 32 entrepreneur candidates also received invitations through PEI’s Business Impact: Work Permit Stream.
Invited candidates under Business Impact Category needed a minimum Expression of Interest (EOI) score of 102.
EXPRESS ENTRY CATEGORY
PEI PNP’s Express Entry Category is for candidates with a profile in the federal Express Entry system.
Express Entry candidates, who would like to be considered for a provincial nomination from the province, need to create a separate EOI profile with the PEI PNP.
These profiles are given a score on the basis of information provided in their EOI based on factors such as education, work experience and proficiency in English or French. The highest-ranked candidates are invited to apply for a provincial nomination through regular draws.
LABOUR IMPACT CATEGORY
PEI PNP’s Labour Impact Category is not aligned with the Express Entry system and is designed for foreign nationals with a valid job offer in the province and support from a PEI employer.
Candidates in this category may fall under three possible streams: Skilled Worker (in PEI and outside Canada), Critical Worker and International Graduate.
BUSINESS IMPACT: WORK PERMIT STREAM
PEI’s Entrepreneur: Work Permit Stream is for individuals who are interested in owning and operating a business in the province.
Candidates, who want to apply through this Stream, need to first apply for a letter of support from the PEI PNP for a temporary work permit. Those candidates who accomplish the terms and conditions of their business performance agreement are then awarded a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence from PEI.
Prince Edward Island PNP has now issued total 1,583 invitations for provincial nomination to Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates over the last 12 months.
