Canada’s latest Express Entry draw invited 3,782 candidates with the lowest CRS of 2020

Express Entry Draw

IRCC hold two Express Entry draws in Two days

Canada conducted latest Express Entry draw for immigration to Canada on April 16. The invitation round, which was restricted exclusively to candidates in the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), issued a total of 3,782 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for Canadian permanent residence.

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score cut-off threshold for this draw was 455 points, making it the lowest CRS score cut-off drawn under Express Entry system in 2020. The minimum CRS drawn in this draw is also 12 points lower than the cut-off score in the last CEC Express Entry draw, which was 467.

3,782 ITAs issued in the April 16 draw follow the 118 invites already issued to provincial nominees in April 16 invitation round. The two Express Entry draws conducted in past two days have issued a total 3,900 ITAs.

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is one of three Federal High Skilled immigration programs managed by the Express Entry system. This immigration class is open to foreign nationals with a minimum one year of work experience in Canada, among other criteria.

April 16 invitation round is the fourth draw in the history of Express Entry that targeted only CEC candidates. There are chances that Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) targeted CEC candidates due to the fact that they are most likely to be already in Canada because of the current travel restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

IRCCused a tie-break in the April 16 draw. The time stamp used was January 20, 2020, at 15:20:02 UTC. This means all Canadian Experience Class candidates with a CRS score of and above 455, who entered their profile in the Express Entry pool before this date and time, received an ITA for Canadian permanent residence in this invitation round.

Considering Canada’s higher admission targets under its 2020-2022 Immigration Levels Plan, it can be assumed that IRCC will hold more frequent and larger draws in the coming weeks and months.
