CRS scores dropped to 440 in latest CEC- specific Express Entry draw held on May 28

EXPRESS ENTRY DRAW (CEC) #150: May 28, 2020

Latest Express Entry round for immigration to Canada held on May 28 issued 3,515 invitations to apply (ITAs) for permanent residence to candidates.

The invitation round was restricted to Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates only.

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut-off scores requirement continues to drop as candidates needed a CRS of only 440 to secure an invite in this draw. This CRS cut-off is also a decrease of 7 points from the previous CEC-specific Express Entry draw conducted on May 15, which had a minimum score of 447.

The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) applied a tie-break in this draw and the date and time used was March 7, 2020 at 10:36: 59 UTC. This means all CEC candidates with a CRS score of at least 440 who submitted their profile before this date & time, received an ITA for Canadian permanent residence in this invitation round.

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is one of three Federal High Skilled immigration programs managed by the Express Entry system. This immigration class is open to foreign nationals with a minimum one year of work experience in Canada, among other criteria.

Although the Canada government has imposed major changes in immigration policies and procedures due to the coronavirus pandemic, the federal Express Entry system has remained operational and candidates can still submit a profile in the pool as well as application for permanent residence.

In fact, IRCC has held a total of twelve Canadian Experience Class and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws so far since March 18 – the day Canada imposed travel restrictions.

This draw brings the total ITAs for permanent residence issued by Canada so far in 2020 to 42,100.
