Ontario invited 781 international students to apply for a nomination for Canadian permanent residency (PR) on August 30, 2022

In a new immigration draw conducted on August 30, 2022, Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) sent 781 invites to international students to apply for a provincial nomination for Canada PR.

The invites were issued to candidates under 2 different streams – Masters Graduate Stream and PhD Graduate stream.

The majority of invitations in this draw (680) were sent to candidates under Masters Graduate Stream with a minimum EOI score of 37, while the rest of the 101 invitations went to PhD Graduate Stream applicants.

This draw considered profiles created between August 30, 2021 and August 30, 2022.

Ontario’s Provincial Nominee Program – the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) allows the province to select and nominate eligible foreign workers, international students, and others with the required skills, experience, and education for a nomination for permanent residence in Ontario.

The Masters Graduate stream of OINP allows International students who graduated from an eligible Ontario university to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence in Ontario.

OINP’s PhD Graduate stream gives international graduates with an Ontario PhD degree the opportunity to apply to permanently settle in Ontario, Canada.

Applicants must first register in the OINP’s Expression of Interest System (EOI) and receive an invitation to apply (ITA) before they can apply online to be nominated by Ontario for permanent residence.  Moreover, applicants must submit their application within two years of completing the requirements necessary to obtain their Masters or PhD degrees.

In 2022 so far, OINP has sent a total of 1,807 invites to immigration candidates under Masters Graduate Stream and 339 under PhD Graduate Stream.
