BC PNP Tech Draw: February 15

140 Tech candidates received invitations to apply for provincial nomination from British Columbia PNP

British Columbia invited 140 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residency in new BC PNP tech draw through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) on February 15, 2022.

Invitations were issued to candidates under the Skilled Worker and International Graduate subcategories of BC PNP’s Express Entry BC and Skills immigration streams.

In order to receive an invitation in this draw, candidates were required to have work experience in one of 29 eligible tech occupations. They were also required to have a valid full-time job offer of at least 12 months from an eligible employer in the province.

BC PNP Tech is a popular immigration stream under the BC PNP, which is designed to help employers in British Columbia’s technology sector to find and select qualified international tech workers, who want to become permanent residents of Canada.

Launched in May 2017 as a pilot project, the BC PNP made it a permanent program in May 2021 because of the project’s tremendous success.

In order to apply through BC PNP Tech stream, immigration candidates need to have a full-time job offer from an eligible employer in the province. The job offer must be valid for a minimum of one year with at least 120 days remaining at the time of submitting the application.

The eligible tech occupations that can qualify under this stream include Computer engineers, Civil engineers, Information systems analysts and consultants, Software engineers and designers, Web designers and developers, Computer network technicians, Authors and writers, Graphic designers and illustrators, Technical sales specialists – wholesale trade, among others.

The eligible candidates need to first create a profile through the BC PNP’s online portal and register under its Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). They must choose to apply through the Skills Immigration or Express Entry BC immigration categories.

The BC PNP will then invite candidates who fulfill the minimum score requirements to apply for a provincial nomination through regular draws.

Invited candidates now have 30 calendar days to submit their complete application for provincial nomination to the BC PNP.
