Australia’s Department of Home Affairs (DHA) has published the results of a new SkillSelect invitation round conducted on 21 April 2022.

A total of 1500 immigration candidates under the Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189) and Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) – Family-Sponsored visa streams received invitations to apply for Australian Permanent Residency.

Occupations included in the 21 April 2022 draw

In order to effectively respond to the immediate and subsequent impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, Australian immigration has been conducting targeted invitation rounds since May 2020.

Among those who received invitations in this invitation round included medical professionals, Agricultural Consultants, Chemical Engineers, Biotechnologists, Child Care Centre Managers, Environmental Scientists, Microbiologists, Social workers, Teachers, University Lecturers, Veterinarians, etc. No pro-rata occupations were invited in this invitation round.

Australia General Skilled Migration Program is designed to attract qualified foreign professionals, who make a significant contribution to the Australian economy.

The eligibility of skilled migrants is subject to test score obtained in the Skill Select program. In this system, points are awarded after considering the age, work experience, qualifications and language proficiency of the aspirant along with points of state or relative sponsorship, if applicable.

Applicants must meet at least 65 points from the General Skilled Migration (SkillSelect) points tables to be considered.

Australia has now invited over 3000 immigration candidates to apply for permanent residency so far in the 2021-22 program year.
