Express Entry Draw #223 –May 25, 2022
589 Express Entry candidates received Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residency (PR)
Canada invited 589 Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence in a new round of invitations held on May 25, 2022.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) only invited Express Entry candidates, who had previously received a nomination from a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut-off threshold for this draw was 741. Express-Entry with a provincial nomination, get automatic 600 points added to their CRS score. Therefore, the minimum CRS score requirement for PNP-specific Express Entry draws is usually quite high
IRCC applied the tie-breaking rule and the time-stamp used was February 02, 2022 at 12:29:53 UTC. This means the PNP candidates who had a CRS score of 741 or more and had submitted their Express Entry profile before this time and date, received an invitation in this draw.
Canada Express Entry system
Express Entry is a selection system for Canadian immigration, designed to select skilled workers for immigration to Canada. Express Entry is a completely electronic process and manages applications for permanent residence under these federal economic immigration programs:
· The Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
· The Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
· The Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
Throughout the pandemic, IRCC focused on conducting PNP-only draws to support provincial immigration goals.
However, IRCC is resuming Express Entry draws for FSWP and CEC candidates in “early July.” Canada’s immigration department has also confirmed that it will soon once again be processing most new Express Entry applications within six months.
Invited Express Entry candidates now have 60 calendar days to submit a complete immigration application to IRCC.
